Alright then, here's one for the brains trust. 16 year old is up for renewal in 7 days and has just popped up to 93/93/93. Been with me 2.75 seasons, so a good while but not as long as most I promote. I've made two promotions this seasons, no more coming up.

If I pull the trigger now he'll probably end up as an all 90s player. Leave him to cook longer and he might go all the way to 100. However, promoting him now would also help clear up a potential traffic jam in season 60 (four youths due to age out).

Questions/opinions:
-Is there a significant difference in quality between a youth who promotes at 93 and one who promotes at say 97?
-Even if there is one, will that make any difference to how far my 6501 coaches can get him or the price I could sell him for?
-What would you do?

I would leave him to get to 100,100,100. It is possible that if you promote now he might not be all 90's.

Definitely agree - could be a slow cooker, that one!

Yes I thought so, it's just a shame that he's so close but I'm going to have to renew and wait on him for another few weeks at least.

Probably worth mentioning that 100/100/100 in the YA is no guarantee of high nineties or better in the FAs after promotion.

Well yes, this was the point I was getting at really. In people's experience, are sub-90s players noticeably more frequent at a youth rating of 93 than 100?

Anyway, I think I probably will keep hold of him even though it would be nice to have another future star to be training up.

Well whaddaya know, he's up to 99 now! He's getting the call up as soon as his contract renewal grace period expires.

Very nice. Just take care to avoid losing any of that to the tax man at the end of the season.

What should I do. Ive got a reasonable midfielder in the academy with 4 days left of his contract, he?s 16 and rated 72. The only thing is is that one of his attributes is now at 91, is it worth signing him on for another season in the academy given that he?s not likely to improve much?

Re-sign him for another season IMO, he could still improve to high 70s and have a chance of coming out with FAs in the 80s. I had almost the exact same scenario with my youth player England who recently promoted. He went up from about 70 to 78 in the season before he got promoted and also had unbalanced mental, physical and technical in the academy.

I'd always renew a youth's contract unless he's got a stat at 99 or 100 or the coach says he's maxed out

OK, the youth report didn't help much either it was one of those "puzzle" quotes.

I'll renew his contract, he improved a couple of points this weeks as well.

Well all my "puzzles" have increased by at least nine points in the following season. So there's hope yet!
